Who believes in magic? Better yet who practices magic? We all do. Whether you believe in it or not does not matter as it exists beyond your beliefs.
I am not speaking of the Hogwarts school type of magic. I have not been as in-the-know with Harry Potter therefore can not make any intelligent references to the movie. Although, I did see the last, or so I think it was the last, movie under marital duress. I retaliated by taking my spouse to see a romcom, under knife point of course. Yes, I enjoy mundane-plot, romantic comedies that have about as much depth as a teaspoon of water and I much enjoy them alone. I get a chuckle out of the predictability and the presenting challenges that are as complex as one plus one, but this is the equation of fluff. Tis difficult to get a thinking man to sit for 90 minutes in fluff, hence the knife point. I digress.
Magic happens daily. The heart valves opening, the sun rays shining, a flower blooming or a child singing. Science can elaborate as to the “how” of these events but it does not answer the why. It attempts to by delving into theory. Theory is fun and serious; its needed but not often applied. I took a Physical Chemistry (P. Chem) course in undergrad and it is essentially the combination of Physics and Chemistry. The entire year of this class was theory. For two semesters we discussed a particle in a box. The simplicity of a particle in a box becomes complex, layered and ethereal. It becomes magic. It was this very class that determined if Chemistry would become a viable career choice for you. The stubborn pushed on, denied sleep and consumed all things P. Chem. It was in this class that helped me to understand that mere mortals may realize a potential greater than them, through the creation of these theories. This was the realization of a universal mystery that existed before, throughout and into the future.
Our thoughts/theories become words and words become action, then this forms power. Take the word magic and erase all previous connotations. Consider the phonetics of Ma-gic. The beginning of the word starts with the sound “ma” a primal sound of creativity or goddess or beginning. From the beginning, must we all start. Out of that beginning we grow in creativity. We are dynamic beings which accounts for our constant movement and growth, be it physical or spiritual. The term “magi” has been found throughout many ancient texts, all referring to a traveler holding a certain knowledge/wisdom. Spiritually, we are all travelers with an innate wisdom of the universe. We choose to follow or not to follow the fate of our existence and the guidance of this innate wisdom. There is also power in choice. So, simply choosing to participate or to not participate in that which is a part of you – makes you powerful. Knowing that this power is present, you may be more aware of the words that you use as this is how power is created.
Your thoughts, words and actions are all important to the greater whole. When you think a negative thought, its action may profoundly affect those around you. This is not to say that negative thoughts do not have a place. All of your thoughts are valid and real and important. Your judgment of a thought does not make it more or less valuable. It comes from you…a thinking, dynamic being. So, when we select words to express a thought, imagine these words being carried on the backs of the wind and traveling many thousands of miles into another continent. How would you like for that to look? What powerful messages do you wish to send out into the universe?
